Fruit Phantoms for Robotic Harvesting Trials—Mango Example

نویسندگان

چکیده

Experimental trials on the performance of end-effectors for automated harvest soft fruit are constrained by seasonal limitations availability and perishability, necessitating use different sets across time. Consequently, stalk phantoms, rather than real fruit, is an attractive proposition. In this paper, a process cost-effective production stable phantoms using silicone (polydimethylsiloxane, PDMS) starch was presented. A preliminary consideration also presented creation phantom stalk, involving wooden dowel or magnetic latching. Mango were benchmarked to mango in terms density, firmness, brittleness, etc.

A Machine Vision System Using a Laser Radar Applied to Robotic Fruit Harvesting

This paper describes a new laser-based computer vision system used for automatic fruit recognition. Most relevant vision studies for fruit harvesting are reviewed. Our system is based on an infrared laser-range finder sensor generating range and reflectance images and it is designed to detect spherical objects in non-structured environments. A special image restoration technique is defined and ...

A Proposal for Automatic Fruit Harvesting by Combining a Low Cost Stereovision Camera and a Robotic Arm

This paper proposes the development of an automatic fruit harvesting system by combining a low cost stereovision camera and a robotic arm placed in the gripper tool. The stereovision camera is used to estimate the size, distance and position of the fruits whereas the robotic arm is used to mechanically pickup the fruits. The low cost stereovision system has been tested in laboratory conditions ...

Fruit harvesting robot and grading robot

Studies on harvesting robots with manipulator were started with the tomato fruit harvesting robot since 30 years ago by Prof. Kawamura, Kyoto University [1]. The robot consisted of a 5 DOF manipulator, a harvesting end-effector, a color TV camera which was used for stereo vision, and a battery car for traveling in the ridges as shown in Figure 1. Following the harvesting robot, the robotic tech...
